What is Decentr ?

Is Decentr “brave” enough to become our main browser!?

TL;DR

  • Decentr is a browser with unparalleled speed, security and utility.
  • Included in the browser release is VPN and Adblock.
  • Decentr is a Web3/metaverse browser, which we refer to as the “metabrowser,” is to the Web3 and the metaverse what Netscape was to the Web2, serving as a fundamental tool that encourages the widespread use of a variety of integrated technologies to build the Metaweb.
  • Due to the fact that DEC is based on a digital asset — data — it is one of the few tokens with intrinsic worth.
  • PDV works as a “personalized” exchange rate that enables users to get financial rewards based on the worth of their data as defined by their PDV rate.
  • Users’ data is valued and securely stored by the Decentr browser and bespoke blockchain as part of their Decentr ID (or DecID).

Decentr is a browser with unparalleled speed, security and utility. Included in the browser release is VPN and Adblock.

An intuitive Web3 blockchain/metaverse browser called Decentr maintains user browsing information securely as part of the user’s Decentr ID (DecID).

Every internet visit is still a component of your personal ID, which is safely recorded on your DecID Stake. You can also sign up to be a validator.

The users of our decentralized blockchain browser can access and retrieve data from many partner chains. This means that our Web3/metaverse browser, which we refer to as the “metabrowser,” is to the Web3 and the metaverse what Netscape was to the Web2, serving as a fundamental tool that encourages the widespread use of a variety of integrated technologies to build the Metaweb.

For usage on mobile and desktop metaweb navigation, Decentr delivers a smooth, decentralized, user-centric experience for Web3 and 3D/AR browsing. The bottom line is that a fully integrated Metaweb won’t materialize if the general public cannot use Web3/the metaverse. We’re modifying this.

We are in discussions with a lot of potential metaverse partners about being the first to include their areas into an open metaweb. Spheroid.io, an open source metaverse (most metaverses are closed source), is one of our main partners. They have large aspirations for public adoption of their lands and attractions via the metaverse browser they are assisting us in developing.

With over 50,000 subscribers in just 4 months, we have launched the production version of our browser for Mac, Linux, Windows, and Android beta. We have incorporated IBC Cosmos as a crucial piece of technology for both the “internet of blockchains” and our more general common objective of the “metaverse of metaverses.”

Users’ data is safely stored and valued by our browser as part of their DecID. Users now have total control over their Web3 data and metadata, including who may see it and what they can do with it.

Because user data is safely valued, users receive a fraction of this value each month in Decentr’s native token, $DEC, which is sent right to their dWallet. The user’s account incorporates the dWallet.

Due to the fact that DEC is based on a digital asset — data — it is one of the few tokens with intrinsic worth. Our Defi features enable each user to profit economically from the value of secure data as indicated by their PDV. Secure data is valuable. Our native token has tremendous benefit because $DEC is the only way to access these capabilities.

PDV works as a “personalized” exchange rate that enables users to get financial rewards based on the worth of their data as defined by their PDV rate.

Demand for the underlying “currency,” which in the case of PDV is the data that users generate as they surf the web and metaweb, determines the rate growth, just like it does for any “exchange rate.” As a result, a real user-centric data currency and economy are created.

A user is rewarded for using the Web as usual by increasing their PDV through productive engagement, data reuse, and data interchange throughout the decosystem and the metaweb.

The long-term goal of Decentr is to enable users to sell their personal data to interested parties through a data exchange. However, even well-known data-based projects like Ocean Protocol acknowledge how young the business is. To develop their shared goal of using data as currency, Decentr and Ocean Protocol have teamed.

Decentr has created an alternate strategy to reward users while the data sale gap is being closed: As users engage with the Decentr ecosystem, the value of their PDV increases. Currently, Decentr offers a monthly prize pool of 300 000 DEC. In proportion to their share of the overall PDV, Decentr will award a reward in DEC from the rewards pool based on the total PDV differential for a user over the course of a month.

Users’ data is valued and securely stored by the Decentr browser and bespoke blockchain as part of their Decentr ID (or DecID). On Decentr, data is valued in two ways:
1. By figuring out what data is generated, reused, and transferred within the decosystem that has the greatest positive effects on the decosystem and platform.
2. The worth of data as judged by our partners in the data market and the larger data market.

The first (and solely available) web3 browser that is “natively” blockchain aware is the Decentr mainnet browser. Our goal is for Decentr to become synonymous with cryptocurrency, the preferred browser for cryptocurrency users, and the gateway for new users to the metaweb and the crypto ecosystem.

Existing browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox, communicate with web3 through extensions and, clearly, do not have native support for blockchain technology. Even the preferred cryptocurrency browser at the moment, Brave, connects to an Uphold centralized wallet provider using ERC20 rather than a true web3 browser (this is past their somewhat shaky token utility and incentivisation model).
Now that the Decentr browser has changed everything, the crypto ecosystem itself is the foundation of our short-term adoption and user acquisition plan.

Our mainnet is based on the Tendermint/Cosmos SDK and, as such, provides many of the features of the underlying tech stack, most notably, cheap and quick transactions. This is essential for a project like Decentr where microtransactions for the transfer of data and payments make up the majority of network transactions.

Decentr’s mainnet utilizes a delegated Proof-of-Stake consensus process, just like other Tendermint/Cosmos deployments. Users will be able to either establish their own Decentr node or delegate their stake to an existing Decentr node and get network rewards as a result. This means that a number of Decentr nodes will power the blockchain/network.

Network incentives currently have an APR of 20%. You can receive these network benefits by setting up a Decentr node or allocating your stake of native DEC tokens to a node in addition to supporting and decentralizing the Decentr blockchain and ecosystem. Even better, DEC token owners can now immediately delegate their stake to a Decentr node via the Decentr browser.

There isn’t a single metaverse in existence right now; instead, there are a number of separate, proprietary, centralized metaverses. The metaweb will be built by integrating these separate metaverses as interconnected/interoperable “spaces.” These will follow a single, decentralized metaweb’s unified Standards & Practices (S&Ps).

We like to compare it to how our blockchain browser works as a metabrowser to link partner metaverses into a single interoperable metaweb, much to how it integrates partner blockchains to produce a fundamental Web3 solution.
